I wasn't expecting playing a fat naked man in the beginning. Little too close to home
hahahaha!
I really liked the first one but never finished it. Got drawn away by another shiny.

When in doubt, skewer it out...I don't know.
I've heard good things about this game. I know I enjoyed the original, but can't remember anything about the story or gameplay. This thread got me to add Alan Wake 2 to my wish list, and I was pleasantly surprised to see that the remaster of the original is in my PS library. I must have grabbed it as a free monthly game somewhere along the way.
At some point if I pick up AW2 on sale maybe I'll go back and try the original again first.
Alan is a book writer and him and his wife go to this small new england town on an island to get away and help his writers block when a dark force takes his wife away . You have to stay in lighted areas as darkness is where the evil lurks.
Plot is well known but Ill spoiler it.

I keep meaning to play the AWake games, but still haven't gotten around to it (especially now that they're creating other games in the same universe - like Control.)
I finally finished Alan Wake 2! It always takes me forever to complete these types of games because there’s so much meaning packed into every detail. I end up stopping to process things or lingering in areas, worried I’ll miss something.
Throughout the story, I kept thinking I was near the end, but every time, a twist would pop up and extend the journey. Tonight, I finally powered through to the credits, and then back on the main menu, I saw a new game mode called "The Final Draft."
I never replay games, but… am I actually going to play this one twice? I started it up, and right away, I noticed it felt different. The game changes based on what you know from the first playthrough, and even the cutscenes adapt, adding new layers since the writers know that you know what's coming. It’s not about choices; it’s that the narrative subtly shifts, adding fresh elements or insights. It totally fits with the story’s vibe and makes complete sense.
I also need to play the DLC. I loved Control, and the Lake House DLC looks like it continues that storyline.
Sam Lake deserves serious recognition for crafting all of this!
I just finished this up on the PS5. I played through it with both dlc installed and played through the dlc as they were presented within the story. Overall I really enjoyed the game it took me a little over 30 hours to finish it with the platinum. That's actually a lot of game for this style of game, especially when you consider that most Resident Evils are between 10 and 15 hours and the original Alan Wake clocks in at about 10 hours.
I did like how they merged Control and Alan Wake into the same universe. Heck there's even a bit of Max Payne in there even though they don't directly mention it.
Overall i enjoyed my time with it and recommend it to any fan of the RE series. BUT I do recommend playing through part 1 first and Control.
