Nope, the update added a new file, "FactoryGameSteam.exe" so now I have one with each name. It's a simpler fix for them, now it doesn't matter.

Nope, it's a new exec. They just put it out with the wrong name. I removed both .exes and did a validation and the "FactoryGameSteam.exe" named file now works.

Satisfactory breaks 100,000 concurrent players on Steam for the first time ever after its long-awaited 1.0 release
You would think that after more than five years in early access, everyone who wanted to play Satisfactory would've gotten around to it at one point or another, and the 1.0 release would be, you know, nice but not essential. Or at least I would think that—and then I would have to admit that I was completely wrong about the whole thing.

The 1.0 release of Satisfactory has seen the game's concurrent player count on Steam rocket past 100,000—the first time it's ever even come close to that mark. (The previous peak, according to Steam Charts, was 34,238, still a damned respectable figure for such a niche game.)

And it's not just veteran Satisfactorians wandering back in to see what's new: Satisfactory has also climbed into the top 10 on Steam's top sellers list. That's a whole lot of new Satisfactorios on the scene.
I'm early in my first 1.0 game. Biomass burners now have conveyor belt connections, cool..

And after about fourteen hours on my first 1.0 game, I'm done :(. There are a few things here and there that are new for 1.0, but most of it has been the same. I feel like I'm grinding a lot more than enjoying. I did start in a place I hadn't started before and that was interesting... for awhile. But having put in almost 225 hours before on my first game, I'm just not up for putting in a lot of hours to reach the late game state on 1.0. but I might change my mind at some later time... :think:

+1. Learned this from Subnautica. I sample them, sort of like an extended demo, but don't play them too extensively.

Hello again everyone, We have been monitoring the issues some of you are having since we released and today we have a potential fix for one of the most prominent crashes with no workarounds that we have identified

After this patch, crashes related to Conveyor Belts/Lifts (AFGConveyorItemSubsystem) should hopefully be solved for everyone

This patch exclusively contains fixes for this issue, given its severity we didn’t want to wait for these fixes to be out so everyone could enjoy playing through the weekend :)

I'm working on Tier 9 which is all new stuff and now I finally see some justification for nuclear power. I never bothered with it before. I just may finally give it a go.

I've given up on this a couple of times and gone back again :roll:. It just satisfies :wink: an itch.

Just unlocked hypertubes. Unlike my first full game I'm trying to build on foundations and make a more satisfactory :wink: :wink: layout of my factories, using online tools to calculate the best ratios of buildings.

I'm still banging away at it, even after deciding not to put in more time :roll:

I'm now working on Phase 2 with the 1,000 required Versatile Framework. Last time I cobbled together a production line that tapped off existing factories and it was a mess. This time I've built a full facility with its own mines. Still can't be bothered with walls and roofs on a planet where it never rains :roll:

Watching videos of that nature (I just don't, so no skin off my back, I'm not complaining) is like watching people put ketchup on eggs.

I realize a lot of people actually like it exactly that way and wouldn't have it any other way - while I feel like it spoils everything.
Occasionally, I can be humored by them but generally, they mostly only contribute to that part of my brain that tells me not to play a game. It forces my brain into thinking of the games as only manipulating someone else's code - and how it's exploitable and how someone else can sorta 'have fun with that'... where sometimes I'm left thinking they are actually 'making fun of it', and I'm left disappointed in my primary hobby. Very often shared by someone that doesn't play the game, but thought the video was funny. (not sure if that's the case here)

I didn't watch the video, so I'm not even sure this is that type of video, but from the title and tag image - I get the impression.

(also, I'm sure a lot of OOers very much like these videos, so - be kind and don't hate me for my opinion)

And yes, ketchup on eggs is nasty.

and, I'm not trying to be mean or attack anyone with this post... just making my little grumbly comment on those videos. :ninja:

The Spiffing Brit is a good example of what you describe, manipulating mechanics to create absurd and broken results. Let's Game it Out's stuff is more of, "How can I take the tools here and do the most absurd stuff that the developers never expected?" Rollercoaster game? How can we make a rollercoaster cannon that shoots people across the map, then makes them wander an underground to get out. Airport game? How can we make the most convoluted runway in order to ensure that absolute chaos breaks out as the planes taxi for eternity?

Meanwhile, I just ripped up my entire factory so I could expand the floor space, add a third layer, and rebuild the lines to be more streamlined visually and still very effective. Single inputs on the first floor. Dual inputs on the second floor. Advanced buildings on the third.

I have this game but have not played more than an hour and none since 1.0.

I love the concept, but as I've gotten older I've come to realize that some games are better admired than played. I suspect Satisfactory is one of those games for me.

I do not have the brain for these kinds of games. If I were to play, my stuff would look very unorganized and incredibly inefficient until eventually I gave up because it became too complicated.

Finally got into this after trying it out for a few hours in EA. I guess the private equity firm taking over my previous employer and driving into everyone's head about effeciency, did something to me :roll: .

I'm struggling to find a "beautiful" configuration of materials for my large warehouse. My smelting lines on the bottom floor are working well, but I think I'd be better served working backwards from the top layer and building out Manufacturers (4 inputs) and then threading those down to the resources they need on the floor below - instead of working up.

I'm running up against a wall of gaming indecision, though. I want to build my factory, I want to kill aliens in Space Marines 2, and I want to get into Everspace 2 again. There's no clear winner, so they all lose.

For you all that have played awhile. What have you done when you get past tier 4 and time to upgrade the space elevator? Have you relocated and started over or have you improved upon your existing location?

I have been redoing my starting base. I hated having conveyers running all over the place and it was ugly. I just couldn't let it exist any longer. It would of been far easier to relocated and start over with a clean slate.

I reached a point around there at which I realized just how inadequate my base and plan were to begin with. I had no idea of the scale that was needed when I began, and had spent many hours planning around completely non-viable plans. I considered just moving and rebuilding (my starting location was far to small), but in the end, I decided to wait for another update or two (which ended up being 'wait for the 1.0 release.') I'm getting very close to returning already.

Personally I'm in the "chunk it down anywhere" school of factory building :D. It's not as much of a mess as my first playthrough, but all my plans to build pretty factory buildings have died when I decided that if it wasn't functional I wasn't going to waste time on it.

As I was approaching three hundred hours on the game I started to burn out on this 1.0 playthrough, so I decided to cheat a bit. I really, really hate running out of something when I'm really remote so I was waiting to reach the point where I could build the Dimensional Depot. However, that was taking longer than I wanted to deal with so I used SCIM to edit my inventory to give me the means to not only build the DD but upgrade it full. I'm still playing by Hoyle otherwise, but this is just a lot less stress on me.

I never start a new base. I just go vertical. I'll end up with 4 or 5 stories of a pretty massive factory. Sometimes I will produce Aluminum or Steel at another location and transport it to the main base. I always produce Plastic and Rubber near the Oil. Everything else happens at the main base.

I've tried to plan for the scale but that always falls apart in the end. I choose expedience over organization and aesthetics.

I'm in sort of a love/hate relationship with Satisfactory now. I'm feeling like I'm not up to building huge factory complexes, but I like the part of tweaking my smaller assembly lines to keep producing stuff I use to make buildings and equipment.

The Dimensional Depot and the Hoverpack have made me want to play the game more. I can concentrate on building rather than trying to cram resources in my inventory and building lookout towers everywhere.

I've been stalling on hitting Tier 6 while I rebuilt my base. I keep running into hurtles, mostly around energy. Today I overcame that, I think, and now I need more Iron. I've got 5x240/min belts coming in for Iron and can produce 5 computers/min, but am missing some other integral parts and have lean production with no excess in other places. I've been taking so long exploring and rebuilding that I actually capped out my computer storage container and decided to pull a few hundred out and dump them for tickets.

The 3-tier factory is working well. My middle tier has become a clusterfluff of belts stuck on the ceiling. I work to avoid clipping, so it's starting to look like a rat's nest since there's no real plan there.

I need to look for some kind of mechanism that pushes products onto a belt if storage is full but otherwise doesn't. It'd be nice to walk away from my base and explore more without being concerned that my products have basically stalled.

I did install my first rail line. Now I have a remote base with 2 oil patches sending back a mountain of Fabric, a small amount of Plastic, and a good amount of Rubber. It's also adding 2000kw of power, and there are another 3 oil patches nearby that I could still tap. Currently everything my train drops off is just going straight into the recycler. I was more interested in the power than the fabric or plastic, and I absolutely didn't need more rubber but figured one more plant couldn't hurt. I'm also hauling back the heavy residue to make Smokeless Powder in abundance, which is also mostly getting recycled except for what I need for research.

Smart splitters have an overflow option so you can run a belt out of your container and loop it back in through a smart splitter sending overflow to the sink. It will only send stuff to the sink when the other belt is full.

Perfect. I hadn't noticed that. I remember getting them and opening one up, seeing all the products, and thinking "Nah, I just use different belts for things. They don't need to be on the same belt"

I never realized how big the map is. I spent last night flying around on Liquid Biofuel and exploring in a search for Drives, Somersloops, and Mercer Spheres. I also now have close to 300 boosters and don't feel so confined to putting those just into power production areas.

In spite of having a couple hundred pages left to read in my Pulitzer biography, I keep finding myself going back to this game :roll:

I now have drones, so no more ground trucks. I for some reason thought that with 1.0 you could use any fuel so I had a coal conveyor belt running to the drone port but no, not coal :(. So instead I created a packaged fuel facility and that's now my preferred energy source.

I'm now preparing to implement nuclear energy. I don't really need it yet but it's cool 8-).

Is there some way in game or using SCIM that I can find out which alternative recipes I have unlocked? I'm trying to use SatTools to evaluate production lines but I'm not sure which alternates I have.

There's the "O" key to open the encyclopedia, I think. You can see all the recipes you have, and blanks for the ones you're missing.

Yup, but only by selecting each item in turn. I was hoping there would be a summary page. Not a big issue, but thanks for the reply.
